Staff was great and facilities that we used we well maintained and useful
Good selection on your menu'S. Dinning room service was excellent. Not so good in the pub!!!
Water in the pool was murky. Much to much chemicals in the water.Furniture in the pool area needs to be replaced.Should have a safety bar for entering and exiting the shower/bath in the room.
This is hard to say because we liked so much--gourmet food, lovely location, good outdoor tour activities, friendly staff, etc. The big, unplanned activity we did was go on a whale watching tour....it was excellent! We found a pod of orcas early on, and then we located and watched a lone grizzly, feeding in an estuary. Our guide was terrific, the weather was amazing, the scenery was stunning. Painter's Lodge exceeded our expectations of a short getaway from home...we'd like to go back.
This is a small comment, not a complaint......the rooms in the main lodge show that they were built in the 1980'S. They are well-maintained and clean, but the sink space is very small, and there is almost no place to put your toiletries case, small hand luggage, etc. We put our luggage on the floor...a luggage bench would have been useful, especially with all the latest info on bed bugs and how to avoid them (never put your luggage on a bed, always use a luggage bench, etc.).
The staff was friendly and helpful. Peggy from the giftshop went out of her way to help me.
Unfortunately I had trouble with my booking. Hotel mentioned they never received the reservation I made through Booked.net from Booked.net!
I thought the room we had in the main lodge was very poorly designed & the amenities were rather sparse.
My sisters and I enjoyed our stay at Painter's Lodge. The friendly, efficient staff should be commended. We particularly appreciated the servicce we received from the waitresses in each of the eating areas. The ambience of the lodge is rustic yet elegant and comfortable. We would ccertainly recommend this establishment.
The only improvement we could suggest is better lighting for reading in our room (13). Also, while I was reading in the upper lounge area where the computor is located, I thought that a few more chairs, sofas and lamps would make it more homey. It was the only rather austere area in the otherwise beautifully appointed lodge.
Location, room was huge for the two of us and very comfortable. Only wish we had had the time to go fishing.
The room was not equipped for any self service other than a little fridge and coffee maker (not microwave, cooking options) despite the size but that's understandable as they want you to eat in the restaurant.
We took the mv Uchuck ride. It was wonderful!
I worried about the cleanliness of the bed cover. Also, I would have liked to open a window but there were no screens and there were mosquitoes. I found only heat available in the room - was there a/c and I couldn't find it?
Nice place with very good amenities. Loved the lodge and ability to use April Point at the same time.
No screens on windows so mosquitoes were a problem in the room. Other guests had smashed them on the walls and ceiling.
On the ocean ability to travel between 2 great lodges My fishing charter was at Painter's
Free transfer to Quadra Island, jacuzzi's in garden, oceanview room
Free wifi. Fabulous restaurant, very comfortable bedrooms, and magical location.
Chef didn't seem to know what a "blue" steak was.... My daughter had to send hers back twice before she got one prepared as she had requested!
Painters Lodge is in a beautiful location. It was unfortunate that we only booked one night as all the family would have enjoyed spending some additional time there. We will definitely make plans to return in the future.
Great location! We never left the lodge for three days other than to visit April Point for a Spa Treatment. The staff are great; casual but try their best to help you. The rooms are clean and nice but alittle dated as this is a fishing lodge that closes up for the winter. The gardens are very nice; the pool is perfect - though they do need new lodge chairs. My friend and I visited for a "girls rest" and it was great - our room was not what we expected yet we were moved right away. All in all - relaxing, great location....we loved it!
rooms are alittle dated; no DVD or flat screen in everyroom
